Maaaan, this is an oldie! I recorded this for my first LP "Old School" under the title "The City", and boy, was it hot garbage! Thankfully, Jordan Metro, the song's producer, still had the session files for this bad boy, so I gave it some new life, and better lyrics (as well as to serve as proof that I was trying to do the new jack swing revival way before Bruno Mars, but that's besides the point). Coco Rose's vocals from the original are untouched, And still hold up very well.
Anyway, this will likely be the final single I put out before the Maestro drops, so I hope you guys enjoy this!
(Chorus - Coco Rose)
Vadell, with the new jack swing
Vadell, the new jack king (x2)
Yeah, that's me
Let's do it
(verse 1)
Tell me who's the dopest on the mic?
The one who never bites
Captivates every soul who hears the rhymes he writes
His flow is pyroclastic
Every song's a classic
And his style's bombastic, it's never static
It's the King of Swing, Soul Brother #4
The one who always makes the crowd want an encore
Vadell Gabriel, here at your service
And if you recgonize the beat, then you probably heard this
Back in 2014 when I dropped my first LP
But it wasn't quite as good as I hoped it'd be
But now I'm 23, and I'm back with the remedy
While Jordan Metro keeps it funky with the melody
Took a three year break, cuz I needed some rest
But now I'm back to show why I'm one of the best
Causing Pandemonium like The Time and Morris
While Coco Rose gets funky on the chorus
Chorus x2
(verse 2)
The microphone magician
Each rhyme I be kicking leaves people in a trance
Making the crowd dance, prance to the sound of the new jack swing
Some didn't believe a thing, till Bruno started to sing
Dripping in 24K Finesse heaven
With the first New Jack hit since '97
But I ain't trying to coattail
I'm trying to up the scales
Cuz the current tracks we got right now are straight stale
Got rappers on the radio that are simply vultures
Only rap for the cash, don't care about the culture
Want mics to grab, but lack the gift of gab
Hide behind their production, cuz their rhymes are drab
So it's back to the lab, with my old school rhythm
Soul By the Pound is what I give em
The King's back for his throne, and he ain't impressed
Because the game right now is just a mumbling mess
Chorus x2
(verse 3)
I'm In Effect Mode, like Albert Brown
Bringing the hottest sound that you've ever heard to Haltown
Rhymes are charismatic, flow's never erratic
Got Funk Flex saying, "Yo, this kid's Illmatic!"
Like Mathematik, I get Better By The Letter
Me give up on hip hop? Never
Rap is sick right now, but I got the medicene
Name a single rapper out that I ain't better than
The veteran, with the swing of a new jack
Taking it back to the classic boom-bap
Be it on digital, CD, tape or wax
I'm one of the illest emcees comin' straight outta Halifax
I Got It Made, like Special Ed
So there ain't a soul alive who could fade the Funki Dread
So act like you know, and bow to the Maestro
The king of new jack swing, with the soul flow, let's go
Chorus till fade

It was hard to choose between this and "Painting 'Till She Dials," but Blew's lyrics hit home when I started embracing nerdcore. "The Cowardly Boy" solidified him as one of my favourite rappers. Vadell Gabriel
I've been following Game Genie Sokolov for years, and even worked with her; but this album completely flipped the script on the style she used on her debut EP. Some really good chipwave in here. Vadell Gabriel
Perhaps the most slept on MC from Toronto, Mathematik returned with a new album that is easily just as good as debut LP, "Ecology." Math balances the old and new school, while showing he still got it Vadell Gabriel
A joyous combination of gospel and hip-hop, Budgie’s “Holy Ghost Zone” is a euphoric LP that will stir the spirit and move the body. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 24, 2018
